The Cannon of Ramadan is the cannon used as an announcement for the breakfast time to tell the public about this appointment.

It is a tradition in many Muslim countries so that the country's army fired an artillery shells sound at the moment of announcing the sunset date for the breakfast and break the fast during Ramadan.

Cairo the capital of Egypt was the first city where the cannon of Ramadan was launched . At the location of the Citadel of Salah al-Din.

Historical Overview History suggests that the Muslims - in the month of Ramadan - during the days of the Prophet Muhammad, (peace be upon him) eat and drink from sunset until bedtime, He began to use prayer's call ( adhaan ) by Bilal and Ibn Umm Maktoum as an announcing for the end of the breakfast of the day. Muslims have tried throughout history - and with more space and the spatial spread of Islam - to invent different ways to the prayer's call of the announcement date for the breakfast, until the cannon appeared to exist .

Cairo was the first city where it started at Ramadan. A novel that the appearance of the cannon came about by accident, there was no deliberate intention to use for this purpose at all.

There are two stories:

The first story: At sunset on the first day of Ramadan in 865 Khhqdm the Mamluk sultan wanted to try out a new gun reached. Has coincided with the launch of the cannon at the breakfast time exactly, people thought that the Sultan deliberately firing the cannon to alert the fasters that breakfast had come, went out the masses of people to the seat of government thanked the Sultan on this innovation well-developed by, and when  the Sultan saw the people were pleased,he decided to proceed with the gun firing every day. 

The second story: where that some of the soldiers in the era of Khedive Ismail, who cleaned up a defender,  a shell had came out in the sky of Cairo with a very loud sound, and it happened that was the time of Maghrib (the end of breakfast of the day) in a day of Ramadan, the people thoughts that the government has followed a new tradition to announce the Breakfast appointment , And have been talking so, Fatima the daughter of Khedive Ismail learned of what happened, she liked the idea, and issued a a firman stating that using the  cannon  at breakfast and hold and in the public holidays.

The idea spread from Egypt to the Muslim world .

The idea started spreading in the countries of Sham first, Jerusalem and Damascus, then to Baghdad in the late nineteenth century, and later moved to Kuwait City, where he was the first gun of Kuwait during the reign of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, in 1907, then go to all the countries of the Gulf before the emergence of the oil age, as well as Yemen, Sudan and even the States of West Africa such as Chad, Niger, Mali and East Asia where he began his cannon Breakfast in Indonesia in 1944. 

How it works ? 

Cannon was in need to four members, two of them are based fuel fill and nicknamed each one of them Almaaergy and the other two process at all.

مدفع رمضان هو مدفع يستخدم كأسلوب إعلان عن موعد الإفطار وإخبار العامة عن هذا الموعد. وهو تقليد متبع في العديد من الدول الإسلامية بحيث يقوم جيش البلد بإطلاق قذيفة مدفعية صوتية لحظة مغيب الشمس معلنًا عن موعد الإفطار و فك الصوم خلال شهر رمضان. 

و كانت القاهرة عاصمة مصر أول مدينة ينطلق فيها مدفع رمضان. ومكانه كان قلعة صلاح الدين. 

نبذة تاريخية

يشير التاريخ إلى أن المسلمين – في شهر رمضان - كانوا أيام الرسول صلى الله عليه و سلم يأكلون ويشربون من الغروب حتى وقت النوم، وعندما بدأ استخدام الأذان إشتهر بلال بن رباح وابن أم مكتوم بأدائه. وقد حاول المسلمون على مدى التاريخ – ومع زيادة الرقعة المكانية وانتشار الإسلام – أن يبتكروا الوسائل المختلفة إلى جانب الآذان للإعلان عن موعد الإفطار، إلى أن ظهر مدفع الإفطار إلى الوجود.

حكاية مدفع الإفطار فى القاهرة

كانت القاهرة أول مدينة ينطلق فيها مدفع رمضان. فعند غروب أول يوم من رمضان عام 865 هـ أراد السلطان المملوكي خشقدم أن يجرب مدفعًا جديدًا وصل إليه. وقد صادف إطلاق المدفع وقت المغرب بالضبط، ظن الناس أن السلطان تعمد إطلاق المدفع لتنبيه الصائمين إلى أن موعد الإفطار قد حان، فخرجت جموع الأهالي إلى مقر الحكم تشكر السلطان على هذه البدعة الحسنة التي استحدثها، وعندما رأى السلطان سرورهم قرر المضي في إطلاق المدفع كل يوم إيذانًا بالإفطار ثم أضاف بعد ذلك مدفعي السحور والإمساك.

وهناك رواية تفيد بأن ظهور المدفع جاء عن طريق الصدفة، فلم تكن هناك نية مبيتة لاستخدامه لهذا الغرض على الإطلاق، حيث كان بعض الجنود في عهد الخديوي إسماعيل يقومون بتنظيف أحد المدافع، فانطلقت منه قذيفة دوت في سماء القاهرة، وتصادف أن كان ذلك وقت أذان المغرب في أحد أيام رمضان، فظن الناس أن الحكومة اتبعت تقليدًا جديدًا للإعلان عن موعد الإفطار، وصاروا يتحدثون بذلك، وقد علمت الحاجة فاطمة ابنة الخديوي إسماعيل بما حدث، فأعجبتها الفكرة، وأصدرت فرمانًا يفيد باستخدام هذا المدفع عند الإفطار والإمساك وفى الأعياد الرسمية.

مدفع الإفطار بالقلعة بالقاهرة عاصمة مصر

و إنتشرت الفكرة من مصر إلى العالم الإسلامي

بدأت الفكرة تنتشر في أقطار الشام أولا، القدس ودمشق ومدن الشام الأخرى ثم إلى بغداد في أواخر القرن التاسع عشر، وبعدها انتقل إلى مدينة الكويت حيث جاء أول مدفع للكويت في عهد الشيخ مبارك الصباح، وذلك عام 1907، ثم انتقل إلى كافة أقطار الخليج قبل بزوغ عصر النفط وكذلك اليمن والسودان وحتى دول غرب أفريقيا مثل تشاد والنيجر ومالي ودول شرق آسيا حيث بدأ مدفع الإفطار عمله في إندونسيا سنة 1944.

كيفية عمل مدفع الإفطار .

كان يجتاج المدفع إلى اربعة أفراد إثنان منهما يقومان بتعبئة الوقود و يلقب كل واحد منهما بالمعايرجى و يقوم الإثنان الآخران بعملية الإطلاق. 

أحدث أخبار مدفع الإفطار بالقلعة

لا يعمل مدفع الإفطار الآن و منذ عام 1992 أى منذ ما يقرب من العشرين عاما . 

توقف عمل مدفع الإفطار بالقلعة حفاظا على التراث المعمارى للمنطقة و خوفا من ان يؤثر صوته و تفريغ الهواء الذى يحدثه الى على جدران القلعة.

أصبح المدفع حاليا فى عهدة متحف الشرطة القومى بالقلعة و معروض بساحة بانوراما متحف الشرطة التى تطل على مدينة القاهرة .
